Default Red light/green light (the dot next to your name)

OK...so I just received a rather nasty PM from a member. Basically, because he saw a "red dot" next to the name of another member on the forum, he thought that the administration team was attempting to single out this member as being some sort of "bad member" because this member has run afoul of the admin team in the past. This could not be more further from the truth!

The color of the "dot" next to your user name indicates whether you are online or not. If it is green, then you are online. If it is gray, then you are offline. This allows other members to know your current status on the site. The ONLY exception to this is if you have "invisible mode" turned on in your profile. If you do, then this "dot" will always show red to you and those looking at your user name/profile.

So...please...before jumping to uninformed conclusions and thinking that someone is out to get you, just ask! As in this case, it is when incorrect assumptions like this are made that feelings get hurt and rumors get started. If you have a question about how something works here, don't hesitate to ask an owner, admin or mod! We will be happy to answer your questions and ensure that you have the CORRECT information!

Thanks!

Same place Don...you see red on your own view when you are invisible. If you change your settings in your user profile, you'll see what I mean.

Hope that helps.

Hey Trev, I see a red dot beside your name right now does that mean you have been bad?

Uh... even if the red dot did mean that the admin was "marking" a member, a NASTY PM is just plain wrong!

And to YOU, Michael? A forum owner?!?!

Wow... that is just poor manners at its worst...

I was a mod in another forum and I can tell people panic with the invisible feature. When you turn on your invisibility (it is located in the user CP), the dot turns red. It doesn't mean a member is bad, it just means that member is invisible.

Poor Michael. That is unwarranted. I thought it was self explanatory, but guess not. Maybe I jus really am a dork to know what those meant. Haha

You know you're a forum noob if you don't know that the green light next to your name means you're on-line and the red light next to your name means you're off-line.

LOL... you guys are funny...

But, I'm fine with someone not knowing what the light colors mean...

But.. sending a nasty PM to an owner about it, that action is the one that deserves ridicule here...

Actually, I'm not on the staff here so I can't say they "deserve" it, but I can say it is my opinion that they deserve it!

I've wondered about that, but agree no need to get paranoid, unless you feel the dot is trying to get you
