Default Help with Motion Avatar?

I'm trying to use an avatar that is a .gif file and the file is a motion file. When I open it on my desktop, it works fine, but when I assign it to be my avatar, it only appears as a still pic. Is there something I need to do to activate the motion once posted in the forum? There are several being used here (ex. PUCKSK8R) so looking to find out the trick. Thanks!

Thanks Rick, but ... where's the PLAY button, is it somewhere in settings and options?? Didn't see anything but may have missed it.

Just updated my signature with this new one. All I did was add it as picture from photobucket. Seemed to work fine.

Try right clicking the mouse Mark over the gif and select Copy Image URL. If you're able to do that.... click on User CP and in the left hand column.... select Edit Avatar. Once there click the Do not use this Avatar button. Then in the First Option window.... delete the http://www and then right click and paste the address in the window and then hit save.

If that doesn't work.... try to right click on the gif and select Copy Image. In Option 1 Window delete the http://www again and right click and select paste. I went to movingavatars.com and put up a moving avatar in my post and it worked. Let me know if either works???? I'm not real experienced with these.... you might need a host site like Marc (Photobucket) used.

you need to make sure the .gif file is working properly first, if you open it in a web browser does it work?

I have it saved in "my pictures" and when I open from there the motion works fine. It's when I try to upload to Watchgeeks, it only shows as a still pic ??

drag it to your web browser icon, it should open in a new window and be animated, if it's not then the problem is with your image.

Thanks J.D., have tried all of these suggestions and coming up empty. Not sure what the problem is because the file works outside of the forum. I hope someone here that knows more than me about files and such can figure this one out. I'll stay tuned ...

Upload it to a picture hosting service and link to it instead of uploading to the watchgeeks site. Try tinypic.com

I never tried it prior to a couple of days ago Dave.... did the same thing you did and it worked for me too. Something must be wrong with that gif or there's no address for it.
