Default New Nicolet arrived today!! BUT>>>>>

I was so stoked to get my 2nd Nicolet Automatic - J177991

This one in brown with the Swiss ETA 2836 day/date automatic movement and a screw down crown, crocodile strap, and sapphire crystal front and back..

This watch is flat out stunning...The detail on the dial is amazing; the strap is soft and comfortable to wear, the rose gold plating is perfect and the combination is hot... With the screw down crown it's even water resistant to 990 feet!!

That's the good news!!

Now the bad....

The watch arrived without any plastic on the face of the watch, which was my first hint that it might have been a return.. Then I saw what looked like a white spec on the dial at around the 5-6 position. Took out the cloth and rubbed and rubbed...still there.. ran my finger over it to see if it was something stuck to the crystal, nope....it is UNDER the crystal... and when I looked closely at the bezel I could also see some small scratches...

I was so sad as I absolutely love this watch and have to send it back.. I called SNBC and since there were only 4 left, I had them pull one for me, which they put at the same price/VP's and same no shipping as when I bought the one that arrived today, and I will keep my fingers crossed when the "new" one gets here.

I always wonder if anyone looks at these watches before they ship.. The white fleck under the crystal is obviously a Nicolet issue but the small scratches aren't... Either way this should have been marked a defective piece and been taken out of inventory and sent back to Nicolet...

Can't wait till the 2nd one gets here, and I'll post photos then...

I have had to send 2 watches back to Shopnbc because they were obviously watches that were returned. If we all did this maybe they would check them more carefully. Any returned watches in my opinion should be put on the Shops auction site. I also had them pay for return shipping.

That has got to be the worst feeling in the world! I hate opening a "new" watch and being confronted with something like this. So sorry to hear. Hope it gets resolved without too much hassle.

Thanks all. I truly appreciate the thoughts. I have become more selective with my watch purchases lately and this one is one I've been wanting for quite a while. Even though it has to go back, just looking at it for those few moments makes me glad I waited for this one. They need Jim to take their photos as in person is so much better - and shows so much detail in the dial that you can't see in the photos.

When deciding on this one I saw on Ebay an Armandt Nicolet 18k rose gold just about exact in all other ways as this one- dial and all, for over $8,000.00.

$400.00 is a great price on this one and I'm willing to try again to get one that's perfect.

I recently received the same watch that I had returned to shopnbc on a reorder. How did I know? It was a numbered limited addition and I got the same numbered one back. Also, they didn't fix what was wrong with it the first time. They obviously just threw it back in inventory when I returned it.
